Kolkata Metro services on the Blue Line were partially disrupted on Saturday due to a technical fault between Jatin Das Park and Netaji Bhavan stations. As a result, metro operations were suspended on the stretch between Tollygunge and Maidan. The disruption began in the afternoon and led to a temporary halt of services in the affected section.
Metro authorities confirmed that trains continued to operate in two separate segments — from Dakshineswar to Maidan in the north and from Kavi Subhash to Tollygunge in the south. However, no trains were running between Maidan and Tollygunge, leading to a service gap through key south Kolkata stations.
The disruption caused crowding on platforms at Tollygunge and other adjacent stations, especially during office hours. Commuters had to opt for alternative modes of transport including buses, taxis, and auto-rickshaws. Officials stated that technical teams were working on resolving the issue and that efforts were ongoing to restore full services on the route.
